AsinitaWho is Asinita?

In the tiny village of Kulu in the remote bush of Sudan we met an incredible woman named Asinita.  The wife of the Episcopal priest in the tiny village church, Asinita is a community and church leader.  About a year before we met her, Asinita's village was raided by a neighboring tribe.  Almost everything the villagers had was taken, placing them on the brink of starvation.

Asinita and her community survived that catastrophe with little but the clothes on their backs.  Virtually all of Asinita's remaining material wealth consisted of six chickens.  And so we were all amazed when Asinita brought one of her chickens to our mission team as a gift.  She was embarrassed that she didn't have more to give.  But we were overwhelmed at her sacrifice, and left with one haunting question: what would it cost me to give up one sixth of everything I own?

Asinita's Legacy

There is no way that we can repay Asinita for her incredible kindness.  Instead, we are daily challenged to live in a way that honors her gift, in sacrificial obedience.  That challenge is the heart of the Music for the Radio EP.  When you purchase Music for the Radio, every penny goes toward the purchase of hand-held radios that allow the people of South Sudan to hear the Gospel in their own tribal languages.

But that's not all.  When you donate through this website, you'll receive a gift of free music from artists who are living out Asinita's legacy as well.  It just takes $20 to purchase one radio that can reach 10-15 people.  What if together we reached one person?  Or one family?  Or one village?  What if it changed the course of the world's newest nation?  That's the power of the Gospel!
